Madeleine’s affectionate and apologetic October 29th, 2003 Letter to William

fffffffff

Madeleine Peyroux wrote this affectionate and apologetic letter to William Galison on October 29, 2003; over two months since her last prior communication with William. In it, she asks William for forgiveness, states her respect and admiration for his treatment of her, promises that there will be “many more chances” to work and create together, and states that their “friendship is eternal”.

About six weeks later, Madeleine’s lawyer Jeff Greenberg wrote his libelous letter of December 17, 2003, in which he accused Galison of “physically abusing” Madeleine on “numerous occasions” and says that Madeleine considering bringing criminal charges against Galison for “criminal harassment”.

What happened in those six weeks to so profoundly change Madeleine’s estimation of William Galison’s character? There was no communication or contact between Galison and Peyroux in that period, so what terrible thing did Galison do to deserve threats of imprisonment?

Galison did one thing only: he informed Rounder Records that he was the joint owner of the seven recordings on GYOMM, and that he had the right to sell them. Unfortunately, unknown to Galison, Greenberg (and possibly Madeleine) had been lying to Rounder Records for the past ten months by telling them in a 50 page contract that Madeleine was the SOLE OWNER of GYOMM.

Greenberg wrote his letter to scare William into giving up his copyrights, so that Rounder would not cancel Madeleine’s contract and sue him and his company into oblivion for contract fraud. That is why Madeleine may be facing prison time soon.
